Dry Skin Brushing

Dry skin brushing is a great way to help detox your body and boost your immune system before hoping into the shower. The skin is your body’s largest eliminative organ. It releases up to 2 pounds of toxins daily! Skin brushing reduces the toxic load of other organs like our kidneys, liver and lungs.

The lymphatic system is greatly enhanced by dry skin brushing as well. The lymph system plays a major role in eliminating wastes and toxins from our bodies and in our immune system. Dry skin brushing helps to increase and stimulate the lymph fluid which helps keep it from getting thick and stagnant. Thick and stagnant fluid   gets clogged and accumulates in our muscles and joints causing soreness, arthritis, cellulite and poor circulation.

Skin brushing is best done first thing in the morning and takes approximately 5-10 minutes. It can be done 5-6 times a week. It is always done dry before showering. The morning is an excellent time because toxins release and accumulate during sleep. When you dry skin brush you help eliminate these toxins and will feel more alert and awake. Many women and men too, notice that they no longer need to use skin moisturizers. By removing the dead skin cells and stimulating more blood and lymph flow it helps the skin to produce more oils.

Dry skin brushing can be done 2 times a day if one is on a detoxification program from alcohol, cigarettes, drugs and food sensitivities. Please avoid brushing over any tumors or open or inflamed skin areas. Start with your feet and work your way up the legs, the back, then the stomach and chest area. Always brush in the direction of the heart. As lymph flows upward from below the heart and downward from above the heart. Next do your arms from your hands up to your underarms. Then do your neck and shoulders downward and your upper chest downward.

Give yourself one to two weeks to get accustomed to dry skin brushing. You’ll love how energized and good your skin feels.
